2D Environment Assignment: Fans

As I mentioned in my previous blog, me and my group have been assigned to create a 2D environment using photoshop (a virus lab of the not too distant future).

With my role primarily concerning the room as a whole (rather than individual props), I felt there was not enough details on the walls to "flesh" out our environment. Which leaded us to the idea of large extractor fans, which fit in perfectly with our concept. My inspiration came from the film "Men in black", the entrance to MIB Headquarters:

However I felt the large fan could fit better in the 2075 era with some adjustments. After looking further for a fan concept, I came across some concept art:

I then took the top left image to draw my own fan, and shaded it accordingly to the main source of light in our final image:

My next job is to design the hub of the fan, then further adjust the shading, followed by colouring and texturing...
